Free Relaxation Hypnosis Script

This relaxation hypnosis script is provide for educational purposes and is useful as a source of ideas and approaches for existing and trainee therapists, which can be adapted to suit your needs.

Just allow those eyes to close now or in a few moments….and relax….don’t even try to listen to the words I’m saying, a part of your mind… you’re unconscious….. will continue to do that for you… just allow your mind to drift and go where it needs to go.

…and now concentrate on your breathing, placing those hands on your stomach and allowing a  deep breath in to fully circulate so you feel your stomach rise…. And then allow that breath to very slowly seep out, becoming longer than the in breath…..

….with each breath in…….and out….. allow those waves of relaxation to gently wash over you as your breathing becomes deeper and deeper.

…allow those waves to trickle through each tiny muscle around the head, down through those cheeks and around the eyes… around and over those ears and down through the back of the neck.  Notice how heavy those eyelids feel… almost as if glued shut.

Now place that tongue to gently towards the roof of that mouth, behind those top teeth, and allow that jaw to slowly, simply drop… and relax.

Now sense that rippling rest and relaxation flowing down through that jaw and out over those shoulders…allow those shoulders to now lower into the frame of your body or the place where you’re lying, as each muscle one by one senses that calming, soothing sensation.

Allow those arms to become loose, limp and lazy as that warm soothing wave flows through each muscle, down past those elbows… those wrists and into each finger.  Notice how heavy those hands and arms feel, almost as if they are immovable.  Maybe your left with your right hand feeling heavier than your left or maybe I am right in saying your left hand is heavier than your right as you drift deeper and deeper.

And now just allow that relaxation to flow through that body into each organ, through each vein and with each slow deep breath feel that rippling rest flow through those hips, down through those legs over those knees and down into those feet.  Notice as each toes in turn becomes more and more relaxed… and as at that wave seeps out of those toes, another wave follows

I’d like you to think of a special relaxing place, maybe one from your imagination, or somewhere you’ve been before and as I count from 10 down to 1, you will reach this special place and the relaxation will become even deeper with each number…

10…feeling very relaxed and calm as you start to imagine your special place

9… allowing that relaxation to continue to flow through that body

8… deeper and deeper as your special place becomes nearer

7… feeling each muscle becoming loose and limp

6… allowing that face and neck to completely relax

5… still deeper and deeper…. notice the colours coming in to view

4… feeling that wave of calm wash over that body

3… arms and legs feeling heavy with relaxation

2… becoming even more relaxed that you thought possible

1… so relaxed, deeper and deeper

Notice the textures… the colours…. The sounds…. The sights…. Maybe there’s a certain aroma.  Just start to take in everything about this place…

That’s it; with each relaxing breath this special place unfolds around you….

Allow yourself to notice what it is about this place that makes it just so restful, relaxing and calm in a way that is just right for you and with each new thing you notice let this add to your feelings of relaxation and tranquillity.

Notice what colour and texture that relaxation is, how it is flowing through that body, it’s pace and direction.  Encourage its flow and allow that colour and texture to become more defined in your mind… as that happens your sense of relaxation deepens even greater…

As you imagine this colour of relaxation, I’d like you to press you thumb and forefinger together …and as you do, you feel the colour of relaxation intensify as you feel completely at ease and in control, continue pressing as that sense of complete calm washes through you, in a way that’s just right for you.

Now loosen that thumb and forefinger and notice the slight dip as you go back to feeling gently at ease and relaxed.

And again, press that thumb and forefinger together and feel that wave of comforting, soothing calmness ripple over and through you, giving you a wonderful warm feeling of contentment.

And again loosen that thumb and forefinger…

Again press that thumb and forefinger and notice just how that feeling of gentle calmness flows though that body

And again loosen that thumb and forefinger…

And now, just take some time to breathe in the relaxing air of your special place allowing that air to fill your lungs and to reach every cell of your body, relaxing, invigorating and replenishing… that’s it…

Take a moment to really notice every little detail about your special place and just how relaxed and calm you can be here with the understanding that you can revisit this special place at any time you like by just pressing that thumb and forefinger together… try this again now… press your thumb and forefinger together and feel that ripple of relaxation spread through your body and notice your colour of relaxation intensify.

As you continue to enjoy that sense of rest and relaxation, you can allow your unconscious mind to choose where to take you next… either start to come back to the room smiling, happy and fully refreshed, or you can continue to relax in your special place, allowing your body and mind to take full nourishment of this relaxation and come back to the room at a time that is just right for you.
