Bladder Control Hypnosis Script

This bladder control hypnosis script is provide for educational purposes and is useful as a source of ideas and approaches for existing and trainee therapists, which can be adapted to suit your needs.

Before you begin to feel the real benefits of this hypnosis, I just want to take a moment to talk about this common problem. The need to go to the toilet is triggered when the bladder reaches a certain capacity.  It is at this point that the brain…suppresses this need…until an appropriate time is reached to go to the toilet.

People with overactive bladder often experience urgency at inconvenient and unpredictable times and sometimes loses control before reaching a toilet. Other people find that they experience the urgency at times where they know they might not be able to easily reach a toilet, like a long journey or a meeting at work, only to find that when they actually get to a toilet they… don’t really need to go.  Thus, overactive bladder interferes with work, daily routine and quality of life.

Like a car alarm that goes off every time someone walks near a car, the sensitivity of the bladder can trigger the need to go to the toilet too soon resulting in not needing to go when you finally get to the toilet, or on the flip side, it can trigger the need to late resulting in a loss of control.

This hypnosis will reprogram the communication between your bladder and your brain enabling you to once again…have control…over your body and mind.

Now, if you haven’t already, find a relaxing place and… now or in a few moments… just allow those eyes to close…and relax….don’t even try to listen to the words I’m saying, the part of your mind… you’re unconscious…..will continue to do that for you with no effort required on your part…

…and now concentrate on your breathing, placing those hands on your stomach and allowing a  deep breath in to fully circulate so you feel your stomach rise…and then allow that breath to very slowly release, becoming longer than the in breath…..

….with each breath in…and out…allow those waves of relaxation to gently wash over you.

I’d like you to think of a special relaxing place, maybe one from your imagination, or somewhere you’ve been before and as I count from 10 down to 1, you will reach this special place and the relaxation will become even deeper with each number……

10…feeling very relaxed and calm as you start to imagine your special place

9… allowing that relaxation to flow through that body

8… deeper and deeper as your special place becomes nearer

7… feeling each muscle becoming loose and limp

6… allowing that face and neck to completely relax

5… still deeper and deeper…. notice the colours coming in to view

4… feeling that wave of calm wash over that body

3… arms and legs feeling heavy with relaxation

2… becoming even more relaxed that you thought possible

1… so relaxed, deeper and deeper

And now, arriving in your special place, allow yourself to notice what it is about this place that makes it so relaxing and calm.

Begin to get a sense of the textures and the colours of your special place…. Notice the sounds as they come to your ears and then let them drift away again…. Maybe there is a familiar aroma that brings back a happy memory or a time gone by that reminds you of what makes this place so special.  Spend a moment really taking in everything about this place…

As you continue to relax in this special place, I want you to notice a large door just slightly to your right… Go towards the door and take hold of the handle.  Notice how the door looks and notice the texture of the door.  Take hold of the handle and notice how it feels in your hand.  Is the handle warm or cool to the touch?  Open the door and step inside.

As you step in you see many dials, levers and switches…. You are in the control room of your mind.  Here you can control any aspect of your mind and body.

You walk towards the dials and notice labels above each, for each of the functions of the body…. You read across… hearing…… sight… heart beats…. temperature….

As you continue reading, you get to the dial labelled bladder control and notice that it’s stuck near its highest setting.  Take hold of that dial and begin to turn the dial and lower the sensitivity.  With each turn of the dial really begin to notice how that makes your body feel and the beneficial changes you can feel rippling through your system.

You want to set the sensitivity of that dial just right to allow that body to send the right messages, just at the right time in a way that is just right for you… you have control…

As you take your hand away from the dial take a moment to step back and think about all the times where your overactive bladder would have once upon a time caused you a problem.  Maybe it used to be meetings… picture that now and notice how comfortable you feel knowing that you have taken back control…. Take a few moments to see yourself on that next long journey you have to make, not having to concern yourself with where the next services are… relaxing into the journey… enjoying the ride.  What do you notice about yourself that is different now the messages are just right and you have… control?

When you are happy that everything in… your control… room is just as it should be, step out into your special place and close the door behind you.  Take some time notice how different your body feels and where in your body those changes are.

Now, as I start to count from 1 to 5 I want you to leave your special place behind with the firm understanding that you can come back to this place at any time you choose to relax or to make further changes in your control room.

1… Beginning to leave your special place behind

2… Feeling all that relaxation and control coming back with you

3… Starting to get a sense to the room around you

4… Allowing those outside noises to come to your attention once again

5… Opening your eyes and fully awake feeling refreshed
